Quality

All our ball lenses go through a rigorous checking process and comply with the AFBMA grade tolerances (add link to show table of tolerances.). We are able to go to a tolerance of one micron (1µm).
The machines used to test the accuracy of our ball lenses are:

SIP 302M

sapphire ball lenses, ruby lenses, drum lenses

The SIP 302M can calibrate our spheres’ diameter with a precision of 0.25µm.

TALYFORM 4

sapphire ball lenses, ruby lenses, drum lenses

The T4 machine is used for measuring surface roughness with a 20% diameter and a 1% tolerance

TALYROND HPR73

sapphire ball lenses, ruby lenses, drum lenses

The Talyrond HPR73 guarantees a measuring tolerance on sphericity (roundness) of ±0.00005 mm. it has unrivalled accuracy, repeatability and stability enabling rapid set up and measurement.

At Knight Optical quality control is of utmost importance and taken extremely seriously. We understand that if a drawing has a tolerance, surface specification and material type then the information is there for a reason. We'll always ensure that all aspects of your drawing and specification will be adhered to.
